Our alterations are reserved for brides who bought their dress from Belle Lueur Bridal. During our quieter months, typically October to January, we may also be able to alter dresses bought elsewhere. See our FAQs below for details.

Whatever your dress needs
We specialise in bridal and only bridal, so every dress we work on gets the expert care it deserves. From hems and bustles to taking in, straps, sleeves and those little finishing touches that make it completely yours, we do it all.
Our bridal alterations studio is at County Square Studios in Ulverston, Cumbria, welcoming brides from across South Cumbria and the Lake District, including Barrow-in-Furness, Dalton, Grange-over-Sands, Kendal and Windermere.
How our bridal alterations work
Say yes to the dress
Once you've bought your dress from Belle Lueur Bridal, we'll email you everything you need to know about alterations, along with a link to book your first fitting.
Book your first fitting
Book online at a time that suits you. Aim for 10 to 12 weeks before your wedding. Destination brides, please work back from your travel date.
Your second fitting
At your first fitting we'll pin and plan your alterations together, then book your second fitting with you on the day.
What to bring to your fittings
Your wedding day underwear
So everything fits and sits exactly as it will on the day. Not sure what to choose? Ask your stylist, or see our favourites in the Belle Lueur Bridal Instagram highlights.
Your shoes
Or a pair with a similar heel height, so we get your hem length just right.
Your veil and accessories
Bring your veil, and if we have time you're welcome to try on jewellery and other accessories too.

HOW DO I BOOK MY FITTINGS?
Book your first fitting online using the Book your first fitting button. We'll then book your remaining fittings with you at that appointment.
WHAT ALTERATIONS DO YOU OFFER?
We specialise in bridal and only bridal, and we do it all. From hems and bustles to taking in, straps, sleeves and adding those finishing touches that make your dress completely yours.
HOW MANY FITTINGS WILL I NEED?
Every dress is different, so the number of fittings depends on your dress and the alterations it needs. We'll plan your fittings with you at your first appointment and book them in on the day.
HOW MUCH WILL MY ALTERATIONS COST?
Every dress and every bride is different, so we can't give a price until we've seen you in your dress and know exactly what's needed. We'll talk you through everything at your first fitting.
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK?
Allow 10 to 12 weeks before your wedding date. If you're a destination bride, please work back from your travel date.
WHAT IF MY SIZE CHANGES BEFORE THE WEDDING?
It's completely normal for your body to change a little in the run up to your wedding. Just let us know at your next fitting, or drop us an email if you're worried, and we'll work with you to make sure your dress still fits perfectly on the day.
CAN YOU ALTER A DRESS I BOUGHT ELSEWHERE?
Our alterations are usually reserved for Belle Lueur Bridal brides. During our quieter months, typically October to January, we can take on a limited number of wedding dresses bought elsewhere.
Before booking, please email us photos of your dress and let us know where it was bought. We'll review it and confirm whether we're able to help.
Please note we're unable to accept dresses from Wed2be, Shein or other budget online marketplaces.
CAN I BRING GUESTS?
Absolutely, having someone supportive by your side can help you feel at ease. We ask that you bring just one guest, and that older children stay at home (very small babies are always welcome), so we have the space to focus fully on you.
If anyone disrupts the process or undermines your wishes, we may ask them to wait in our lounge.

JENNY SPEDDING
Sewing has been a part of my life since I was a little girl, learning from my incredibly talented (and mostly self-taught) mum. We've spent years designing together, and she’s been with me every step of the way, from dreaming up Tuna & Bear to building Belle Lueur Bridal. Her creativity and passion have shaped this business in ways I’ll always be grateful for.
As you may already know, I have a deep-rooted passion for fashion, and bridal in particular. It honestly feels like it’s in my blood. I couldn’t imagine a day where I’m not doing this; every part of the process feels personal to me. You’ll often hear me dreaming up new designs or finding ways to get creative so that your bridal look always feels unique, thoughtful, and completely you.

Laura is our rock. She’s been part of both businesses from day one and plays a huge part in bringing each bride’s vision to life. Her expertise is second to none, and we wouldn’t be who we are without her.
She is an incredible seamstress with a true passion and love for sewing. Laura genuinely cares about making each and every bride feel special, seen, and confident. At just 30 herself, she brings a modern, fashion-forward eye to every alteration, always interpreting changes in a way that feels fresh and stylish. Believe me when I say: you’re in the safest of hands.
